The Oak City Story
Oak City Church began in a home where a group of people, hungry for The Presence of Jesus in their lives, believing for a fresh move of God in Birmingham, Alabama gathered with God in their midst, knowing that nothing was impossible - we simply wanted More of God! Well, God showed up and we had to move to 3 different locations across the city as more and more came to experience the manifest Presence of Jesus. As our gatherings began to grow, Jonathan's heart began to yearn for Oak City to re-form as a church. With the support of Apostolic Oversight and the Community that God had brought together, we began to prepare to establish a House where people could belong to a family and experience more of God.
In February of 2017, Oak City launched with a mission to grow Oaks of Righteousness - people who Experience More of God, Belong to Family, Become who God says they are, and Demonstrate Heaven on Earth. God has continuously shown up, and in 2020, our team felt the time had come to purchase property for Oak City. In August of 2022, Oak City moved to the beautiful Cahaba Heights neighborhood onto a property filled with Oak Trees - a prophetic symbol of what God is building in our midst!

Our Staff
We are led by a staff of powerful, kingdom people who are actively leading our community into Experiencing More of God, Belonging to Family, Becoming who God says you are, and Demonstrating Heaven on Earth.
Oak City Governance
We are submitted to Godly leadership structures and committed to Biblical stewardship.
We are guided by Pastors and a Core Leadership Team.
The Senior Pastor leads the Pastoral and Core Leadership team. This team oversees the day-to-day ministry and operations of the church, together with our servant Lead Team. They also serve the congregation and are responsible for developing the church's spiritual life.
We are protected by a Board of Trustees.
The Trustees are members of the Oak City Family who oversee the finances and direct the provision as needed by the church. They provide counsel to the Core Leadership Team regarding the major financial commitments of the church.
We are strengthened by Apostolic Overseers.
Our Apostolic Overseers are a group of leaders from respected congregations and ministries who love Oak City and are willing to provide spiritual direction, accountability, recommendation, and protection to the church.

Our Beliefs
Oak City Church is a Spirit-filled family of believers and followers of Jesus Christ.

Apostle's Creed
I believe in God, the Father almighty, creator of heaven and earth. I believe in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord, conceived by the power of the Holy Spirit and born of the virgin Mary. He suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried; he descended to the dead. On the third day he rose again. He ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father. He will come to judge the living and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy universal church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen

Our connection with The Lord is nurtured and grows in the secret place, time with Him in His Presence.

Christ died to set us free from sin, death, fear, and shame in order to establish our lives in freedom.

We are adopted into God's Family, so we intentionally create family and community wherever we go.
APOSTOLIC
God desires to see Heaven invade Earth. We are His Apostles, sent to bring His Kingdom and Reign

Honor recognizes and affirms that every person is valuable and powerful. We are made in God's Image.
